About Us

Trishaws were first introduced to Singapore and Malaysia as a method of transport in the late 1920s. Trishaws quickly gained popularity in both places due to its ease of use and storage capacity. Many people began to use trishaws to sell their products, particularly street food. Traveling peddlers found it easier to service their customers with trishaws. It quickly became synonymous with genuine home-cooked street food in Singapore and Malaysia. Many trishaws in Malaysia and Singapore are still powered by pedals. Trishaws are known as beca or lanca in Malaysia. We kept this traditional true history at Ipoh Malay Cuisine and brought it into the multicultural, lively city of Vancouver, BC. Our chef prepares fresh, traditional, and original dishes for sharing, focusing on real Malaysian spices from the Pacific Rim. Ipoh Malay Cuisine's warm, pleasant, and dynamic atmosphere provides the ideal setting for both intimate dining and private events. Ipoh Malay Cuisine is closed on Tuesdays and open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from Wednesday to Monday. On all working days, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., we are closed for lunch.
